About

Nature knows what we need and when we need it, so it is no coincidence that our lands are offering a multitude of healing plants at this time of year. The high energy of summer, coupled with the return to routine in September, can take its toll on our nervous systems.

Colour has long been used as an indicator for the purpose and benefits of healing plants. This theory is called ‘a doctrine of signatures’, where colour, shape and form provide clues for medicinal healing. Think red hawthorn berries, rose and cayenne pepper - all connected to circulation and heart healing.

Our host for this workshop will be Herbalist and Lab Tonica founder, Kitty McEntee. Kitty has taken inspiration from the colour theme and pointillist techniques featured in our current exhibition, 'Radical Harmony: Helene Kröller-Müller's Neo-Impressionists'.

The fun and interactive workshop will explore colour theory within the context of medicinal healing and how to identify and formulate your own remedies using calming herbs and plants.
