Annotations on the front cover record that the catalogue includes details of "the position of pictures in War 1939, and of Tate pictures at the National Gallery at the time of declaration of War and those pictures that are described in the 1929 catalogue".
The catalogue includes a typescript list detailing pictures [remaining] at the National Gallery on 25 March, 1942.
