Administrative history

The Gallery's own Photographic Department developed after the First World War. Prior to that individual photographers applied for permission to visit the Gallery in order to photograph the paintings. There is no record of any such application by W.W. Perkins and efforts to trace him as a photographer have failed.

Custodial history

The album was presented to the Gallery by Dean Carter in November 2006. Mr Carter had purchased the album on eBay from someone clearing out their attic and believed it had belonged to an aunt or grandparent of that person. There is no further information about its provenance.
