Description

Copy of the letter that was enclosed in the letter to the Treasury. Sets out the importance of the collection of Old Master Drawings and the wish that the two central collections should be held under one roof. He therefore suggests to lay before the Lords Commissioner the recommendation to transfer the drawing that are presently in the British Museum to the National Gallery. This proposal was recommended by the Select Committee of the House of Commons in 1860, which included important Trustees of the British Museum.
