Providing the returns requested for a proposed motion in the Commons to open the National Gallery for evening exhibition, necessitating gas lighting. The Trustees and Mr Braidwood object on the grounds that the building is not equipped to make use of gas lighting and that heat and fumes evolved by gas pose a risk to the pictures
