Replying to the circular of the previous month from the Royal Commission and advising that the strictest economy is exercised in the department which has an efficient, well-organised and disciplined staff. Also advising that the Clerk has been recommended by the National Gallery Board for an annual pay rise of £10 per year but that the Treasury has not yet acted on this
