Description

Letters from Federico Sacchi (an agent) to F.W. Burton regarding paintings he has seen during a recent tour in Italy including works by Marco d'Oggiono, Bonifazio, (although Professor Bertini believes this could be ascribed to Palma Vecchio), Montagna, Lorenzo Lotto (Virgin, Child and two saints), Moretto (Supper at Emmaus), Jacopo Bassano and offering his services to the Gallery if required.

Later letters mention part of the lower compartment of a votive picture showing four females attributed to Mantagna, Two Angels Heads ascribed to Raphael in the Grimani Collection, works of sculpture he has brought to England for sale, an oil portrait of Sir W. Boxall, his documents relating to the history of Cima's Incredulity of Thomas, and that Baslini has just received payment from the National Gallery for the Savoldo
