Description

Letters from Victor Naumann to Poynter offering for sale, and asking for an opinion on, a number of paintings in his collection. These include 'Portrait of Christ' bearing the mark of Cranach the Elder, 'Portrait of a Man' by Ansuino da Forli, 'Daughter of Herod offering the Head of St John the Baptist' by Castrofranchus, 'Figure representing Adam' probably by Lorenzo Costa, 'A Dreaming Boy' attributed to Costa, 'Madonna under a Fig-tree' by M Baxit, and a 'Sketch of a Female Saint' which Naumann believes is a sketch for the Vision of St Helena in the National Gallery.
