Correspondence between Philip Hendy and Walter Brandt (executor of the will) regarding which pictures from the bequest would be accepted by the National Gallery. Official decision from the estate duty office on exemption for five pictures received 3 August 1962. Receipt confirming the five pictures were recieved by the National Gallery, dated 26 September [1962] signed by Gregory Martin, Assistant Keeper, subject to the Trustee's approval. Letter dated 12 Oct 1962 from Hendy to Brandt explaining that the Trustees have decided not to accept two of the Corot pictures in the bequest, as they will not be able to be exhibited in the main galleries because the 12 Corot's already owned by the Gallery include some of a higher quality, which must therefore take precedence in exhibition. Three remaining pictures in the bequest are accepted.
