The meeting of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon is described in the Old Testament (I Kings 10: 1-13). She travelled to see him in order to find out whether rumours of his wisdom and the opulence of his court were true. He lived up to her expectations; she presented him with magnificent gifts and he was generous in return.
