A crucifix is an object in the form of a cross used for devotional purposes which can be carved, cast, enamelled or painted to represent the Crucifixion of Christ.
Crucifixes can vary enormously in size, ranging from miniature works for individuals to wear around their necks to large versions made to be carried in processions or suspended above an altar in a church.
