About
Students from UAL Wimbledon College of Arts’ BA Costume for Theatre and Screen, and BA Production Arts for Film and Screen, have collaborated to bring to life six National Gallery paintings, including Gustav Klimt’s ‘Portrait of Hermine Gallia’ and Claude Monet’s ‘Water Lilies, Setting Sun’.
Tasked with creating inclusive, sensory-based audience experiences inspired by art, their projects include costumes, projections and interactive environments. Making use of spaces in the Roden Centre for Creative Learning these projects aim to foster new understandings of the art that inspired them, considering their meaning and emotional resonance in relation to our senses and experiences of the wider world.
This drop-in display reveals how our paintings continue to inspire creative practitioners today and how they might engage new audiences, especially those who may experience art differently.
