About

Lauren Godfrey, artist and host of the 'Pattern Portraits' podcast, leads a tour of patterns in the National Gallery Collection.

This tour will focus on patterns appearing in and inspired by nature, leading you through the galleries and culminating in a self-guided visit to 'Millet: Life on the Land'.

The tour will be followed by a drawing workshop, taking inspiration from the patterns visited during the tour and taking place in the sumptuous surroundings of the Salon, located in the Supporters' House.

Your host

Lauren Godfrey is an artist based in London. Her work invites interaction and collaboration, often swerving close to furniture or the quasi-useful. In recent work, fountains and sundials – elemental clichés – meet post-modern silhouettes and pattern overload. Collaborating with surrounding elements and viewers alike, Godfrey's work offers space to the viewer, whether it be to take a meditative moment in the company of trickling water or an invitation to interact and respond.
