Behold Cagnacci’s masterpiece, on display in the UK for the first time in over thirty years

Though unfamiliar to many visitors today, Guido Cagnacci (1601–1663) was one of the most accomplished and unconventional Italian painters of the Baroque period. Celebrated in his own lifetime for his extremely sensual paintings, he is not represented in any UK public collection.

Full of drama and sensuality, 'The Repentant Magdalene' is widely regarded as Cagnacci’s masterpiece. This important loan from the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California, offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover this artist at first hand.
