How do you draw the city? Explore how Canaletto transferred complex architecture and extraordinary detail onto the two-dimensional page without the technology available to us today.

In this drawing workshop explore how Canaletto manipulated the cityscape, altering shapes and proportions or omitting features to create a satisfying and convincing picture.

Learn the techniques of linear and atmospheric perspective and the tricks of colour, light, and form that enables us to enter his world and experience his vision of the city.

Led by artist Gayna Pelham. You will never look at cities in the same way again. A special opportunity to work in a closed-off room in the Gallery.

No experience necessary. All welcome. Materials provided.
