Simon Schama discusses the influence of Rubens on the art of Rembrandt

This talk celebrates the launch of the National Gallery’s new space, Gallery B, currently home to the special display, Rubens and Rembrandt.

Simon Schama is Professor of Art History and History at Columbia University, New York, and the author of 17 books including 'Rembrandt's Eyes' and 'Hang-Ups: Essays on Painting (Mostly)'. His art criticism for 'The New Yorker' won the National Magazine award and his fifty-odd documentaries include the Emmy award-winning 'Power of Art', 'Rembrandt: Masterpieces of the Late Years', and most recently, 'The Face of Britain'. He is currently filming the world art series, 'Civilisations' for BBC2.
