Cole’s paintings inspire Americans to celebrate the beauty of their landscape to this day. His writings also explained why such natural beauty was worth celebrating and protecting from the march of civilisation and urbanisation.

Tutor biography

John Nagle is Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame and has written extensively on environmental law.
