"Observing my students grow in confidence and show a real enjoyment in expressing themselves and responses of a primary experience of an artwork was great."  Participating teacher 2014

KS5 students will have the opportunity to develop independent observation, research, and investigation skills in a workshop exploring the National Gallery’s exhibition Beyond Caravaggio. This is the first major exhibition in the UK to explore the impact of Caravaggio’s work both on the art of his contemporaries and followers.

Letizia Treves, Curator of Italian and Spanish Paintings 1600–1800; a practising artist; and expert Gallery educators will encourage students to think independently, ask informed questions, and analyse works. Students will also have the opportunity to use the National Gallery’s Research Centre and Archive.

To conclude students will deliver short group presentations of their personal responses and discoveries to an audience of experts and their fellow learners.

Maximum number of pupils: 25
