How did the Old Masters use drawing as a way of investigating the world and as preparation for their paintings? And how can we use a Gallery visit to develop our own skills and build confidence in drawing?

Using direct observation of National Gallery paintings, this session explores the materials and process of drawing. Learn about traditional tools including pen and ink, chalks, and carbon paper. Try different techniques to develop an understanding of line, tone, and perspective.
