What is the value of looking at an original work of art? What difference would it make if our galleries were filled with reproductions?

Do reproductions create a barrier to looking, or can they help us look more closely, and deepen our encounter with art? What role can reproductions play in helping us remember paintings?

In this session, we explore the place of the real and the reproduced, and consider why looking at an original work of art is a unique experience. At the same time, we develop our skills for confident and effective looking.
