About
Art is more than just entertainment, it’s a powerful tool that has the power to influence our wellbeing, emotions, imagination and even the way we perceive and interact with the world.
PhD researcher in neuroaesthetics and conceptual artist Viviana Caro is one of the few scientists in the world bridging the gap between science and art by exploring how our brain and bodies respond to art, beauty and nature.
In this workshop, Caro explains the link between art and wellbeing and shares techniques to enhance curiosity, imagination and new ways of experiencing art.
How does art influence my brain and regulate emotions? If I’m not skilled at creating art, does it still offer the same benefits? What if I don’t consider myself a creative person - will art still have an impact on me? If I make art, does it affect others around me? How? What are the long-term effects of engaging with art?
These questions and more will be explored during the workshop, followed by a brief practical session to help you interact in a meaningful way with a piece of art.
Once the workshop finishes, Members are encouraged to step back into the Gallery rooms and put their new learned techniques to the test.
