About

Raphael's beautiful 'Mond Crucifixion', currently starring in 'The Credit Suisse Exhibition: Raphael', is named after its last owner, who bequeathed it to the National Gallery.

It is one of Raphael’s earliest works and was commissioned by the wool merchant and banker, Domenico Gavari, for his burial chapel dedicated to Saint Jerome, in the church of S. Domenico in Città di Castello in Umbria, Italy.

Join art historian and Gallery Educator Dr Carlo Corsato as he explores this picture in detail, examining its composition, construction, and influences.

After the talk, Carlo will answer any questions you may have in a live Q&A.
