Members' talk and Q&A
About
David Hockney is a fan of slow looking. Join art historian and mindfulness practitioner, Karly Allen, as we take a final reflective look at the paintings in ‘Hockney and Piero: A Longer Look’.
Hockney said that he could look at della Francesca’s painting ‘every day for an hour’. In the days before this exhibition closes, we invite you reflect on the themes and experiences this exhibition evoked. We will use mindfulness to guide a final slow look at this exhibition, and we will explore how it can support the kind of sustained looking that Hockney loves. We will consider the themes of the exhibition, your own experiences both in the Gallery and online, and enjoy one last long look at the works of Hockney and Piero.
Mindfulness is a meditative practice which focuses on being aware of what you are sensing and feeling without judgement. No previous experience of mindfulness is needed.
We invite you to find a quiet space for this reflective and restorative session. There will be an opportunity to share your own experiences and ask questions at this event.
