Master of the Story of Griselda

This month we look at a painting depicting a dramatic episode from ‘The Story of Patient Griselda’, a tale told by the 14th-century poet Boccaccio in his novella, ‘Decameron’.

Alexandre Calame

This month we take a close look at this spectacular view of the Haslital Valley by Swiss landscape painter, Calame.

Joseph Wright 'of Derby'
Tuesday, 13 August 2019

This month we look at Wright of Derby’s candlelit scene of an experiment demonstrated by a travelling scientist. This painting is the subject of our 'Take One Picture' exhibition.

Fiona Alderton
About Fiona Alderton
Fiona Alderton is a Gallery Educator and storyteller. With a background in performing, she writes and gives sessions for adults and children, including commissions for various organisations such as the National Portrait Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery, and the Royal Opera House in London.

About Marc Woodhead
Marc Woodhead is an artist, art historian, and Gallery Educator. He was awarded the International Artist in Residence at Guernsey Art College in 2010, and runs his own tour company for adults, Art History for Independent Travellers. Marc also teaches at the National Portrait Gallery and the Wallace Collection.

Belle Smith
About Belle Smith
Belle Smith is an artist and Gallery Educator who has worked in London museums and galleries for many years. She studied at Goldsmiths College and has an MA in the History of Art. She enjoys working with groups of all ages, from young children and teenagers to undergraduates and adults.
