Women supporting women: Members' talk and Q&A
In honour of International Women’s Day, join us to celebrate the many women who create art and the women who support the creative pursuits of others.
Art historians and researchers Amy Mechowski and Jon King will be discussing the role of women in the development of 18th-century to contemporary talents.
Beginning with the story of Rosa Bonheur, famous for ‘The Horse Fair’, Amy and Jon will explore the different shapes support can take and new ways of thinking about the women in and beyond our collection.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions in a live Q&A at the end of this conversation.
Amy Mechowski is a freelance art historian, lecturer and curator, specialising in issues of sexuality and gender in 19th-century art and material culture.
Jon King is Bernays Curatorial Fellow of British Paintings and Researcher for the Women and the Arts Forum at the National Gallery.
