Members' talk and Q&A
Ahead of our new exhibition, ‘The Last Caravaggio', opening to the public, uncover the stories that underpin these paintings in this exclusive talk for Members.
Caravaggio created striking works in the years before his early death, featuring violent scenes of which Caravaggio was no stranger. Exhibition curator Francesca Whitlum-Cooper will explore these paintings in this context and reflect on violence today.
Francesca will discuss the artist and his characteristic style of cropped scenes and dramatic lighting. She will share the stories of Saint Ursula and Salome, and she will discuss the lasting impact of Caravaggio’s paintings.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions through a live Q&A.
