Administrative history

Between the early 1960s and 1970 Davies was approached by the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne to help write a further addition to the Les Primitifs Flamands volumes. This was concerned with four pictures in the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. Responsibility for the publication was divided between Ursula Hoff, Curator of the National Gallery, Melbourne (who had sole responsibility for Van Eyck, The Madonna with Child) and Davies, who acted as co-author for the other three pictures. Some of the entries were also contributed to an exhibition catalogue for Brugges Groeningsmuseum in 1969 (see NG33/30). The book Les Primitifs Flamands, Melbourne was published in 1971.
