Description

From the National Gallery: A list of instructions for work in the vacation: L'Ortolano (NG669) to be repaired by Mr Pinti. Cosimo Rosselli (NG227) to be rehung in the hall, restored and perhaps glazed. Eastlake gives his reasons why the Pettenkofer process is still on trial. Wornum is to ask Mr Bentley when Sebastiano del Piombo (NG1) was last varnished; he recommends treatment but not cleaning. Eastlake recommends treatment for Carracci (NG88). He recommends possible revarnishing of Garofalo (NG671). The Demidoff seal is to be attached to the back of the Velasquez (NG745). The two Memlings (NG747) are to be put in one frame. An inscription should be made to distinguish those pictures which belong to the British Museum. See also Minutes of 13 Jul 1865.
