Photograph. The view shows the mosaic floor before Anrep's mosaic 'Modern Virtues' was laid (opened 25 Nov 1952). 'The Dying Alexander', Italian School (?) (NG2241) is on the pedestal. Taken between 1925 when 'Fame' then ascribed to Biard (NG4105) was presented and placed on the half-way landing, and July 1933 when Boris Anrep's mosaic 'The Awakening of the Muses' was unveiled on that site.
