Description
Ten pictures were originally bequeathed by Rowley, two of these were eventually accepted, with one going to the Tate. Correspondence with Williams and James (solicitors) and Martin Davis concerning the bequest and arrangements for the delivery of pictures to the National Gallery for inspection by the Trustees. Ongoing correspondence discussing insurance arrangements for the pictures whilst they are transported. Correspondence with the National Portrait Gallery and Tate regarding their potential acceptance of certain parts of the acquisition, arrangements for transport of pictures from the National Gallery to the Tate Gallery. Form of disclaimer for all of the bequest except the Angerstein portrait (National Gallery) and the portrait of Angerstein's nurse (Tate). Correspondence between Martin Davis and Williams and James solicitors concerning the return of those bequeathed pictures that were not accepted together with associated insurance for the pictures during this journey.
