Letter from the Chairman of the Trustees to the Rt. Hon. Earl of Ancaster, 29 Sep 1952 re the Gallery's interest in 'The Rest on the Flight to Egypt' by Pittoni and expressing the hope that he might inform the Gallery if he contemplates selling it. Correspondence, 1958, with Colin and Geoffrey Agnew re bidding for the Pittoni at Sotheby's on the Gallery's behalf; with the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, John Lambert and Mrs Meldrum re the National Art Collections Fund's contribution towards the purchase and re descriptions of the picture for inclusion in the Fund's annual report; correspondence with Gilbert J. Ponsonby of The Noel Buxton Trust, 1958-1960, re their donation towards the purchase and requesting acknowledgement of their contribution on the picture label.
