Correspondence regarding the proposed gift of Sir F.M. Cook, Bt., of 'Caterina Cornaro', complications arising from the terms of two trusts in which the Cook collection was held and relating to payment of death duties, and re the decision for the gift to be presented to the Gallery through the National Art Collections Fund. Includes letters [some of which are copies] from Clark, Gibson, Mr H.J. Wasborough and Mr D.S. Jackling [Trustees of the Cook Collection], E. Hale of the Treasury, R. Mead of the Estate Duty Office, J.M. Keynes [NG Trustee], Lord Bearsted [Chairman of NG Board], Lord Lee [NG Trustee and member of NACF Committee] and Sir Robert Witt, Chairman of the NACF.
Also includes correspondence re insurance of the picture and arrangements for its loan to the National Gallery of Canada, Ottowa.
