Grant Rogers of the Imperial War Museum explores the influence of Uccello’s famous battle scene on the war artists of the 1914–18 conflict.

Parallels between Old Master paintings and those of Wyndham Lewis, Paul Nash and Stanley Spencer will be explored, as well as the impact of English ‘swagger’ portraits on the German High Command during the Second World War.
