Prints and drawings have played a central role in training artists, inspiring paintings, circulating images and creating artistic reputations. In a series of case studies, lecturer Emma Chambers will trace the changing functions of prints and drawings as they reflected:
- Shifting ideas about originals and reproductions
- Methods of composition
- Artists’ training
- Relationships between the first idea and the completed work
The case studies will focus on works by Raphael, Rembrandt, Hogarth, Reynolds, Constable, Turner, Whistler, Manet and Pissarro.
