In September 2009, the Scientific Department of the National Gallery hosted a three-day conference to mark the publication of the 30th volume of the National Gallery Technical Bulletin.
The central theme of the conference covered all subjects relating to the technical study of Old Master paintings and the history and technology of painting materials and techniques, research topics which have been the focus of the Technical Bulletin over the last 30 years.
Considerable developments have taken place in this field since the IIC Congress devoted to this subject, which was held in Dublin, 1998. This conference offered the opportunity for new work to be shared and discussed within the international community of conservators, curators, art-historians and scientists working in the heritage and museum fields.
The proceedings of the conference will be published as postprints by Archetype Publications, London, towards the end of 2010. All conference delegates will receive a free copy of the postprints so please remember to inform us of any change in your contact details.
The postprints will also be availbale for purchase from Archetype Publications [External link]
