Fin-de-siècle Paris was, for many, the pleasure capital of the world, for others the French capital was a cesspit of the unnatural and the degenerate. In this talk, the 'healthy' art exhibited in the French Salon and street art of Jules Chéret will be contrasted to the 'unhealthy' art promoted by the dealer Ambrose Vollard; Cézanne, Gauguin, Picasso, Redon and Van Gogh.
