These concerts are dedicated to Myra Hess who, against insurmountable odds, arranged concerts in the National Gallery every day of the week throughout the Second World War.
Her concerts offered comfort, solace and reprieve to a devastated London. Let music surround and inspire you in the original setting.
Programme
Mozart: Sonata in C minor K. 457 – Sarah Beth Briggs (piano)
Finzi: Let Us Garlands Bring – Peter Coleman-Wright (baritone) and Piers Lane (piano). This work premiered at the Gallery 70 years ago this October.
Debussy: Pour le Piano – Sarah Beth Briggs (piano). 2012 is the 150th anniversary of Debussy’s birth.
Songs: Noel Coward and Ivor Novello – Peter Coleman-Wright (baritone) and Piers Lane (piano)
