Drawn to the Dark Side

Museums at Night, BSL-interpreted

Date and time

Friday 16 May, 6.30–7.30pm

Sainsbury Wing Theatre

James Heard with BSL interpretation

Admission free.

A lecture for adults only

What revolting object did Hogarth leave in the graveyard of Hoo church? What was that bad business of Rembrandt taking a younger woman into his bed? Did Caravaggio really castrate Ranuccio Tomassoni, and why did Reynolds vandalise a Titian? Who still shocks our modern world with his close-up of female genitalia?

To celebrate Museums at Night we look at the less salubrious face of art history as well as noting the bizarre and sometimes shocking goings-on in the studios of the Old Masters.

This talk will also be BSL-interpreted.
