What can we learn about a specific place or moment in time from the portraiture of the people who populated it?

On this course Rachel Barnes, author of 'Gustav Klimt', explores the extraordinary portraits of the extraordinary people presented in the Gallery’s exhibition 'Facing the Modern: The Portrait in Vienna 1900'. These portraits will be considered alongside paintings from the Gallery’s 19th-century collections, providing you with a wider context and understanding of both.
