Park of Sansac (Indre-et-Loire)

The 16th-century Château de Sansac stands near Loches on the banks of the Indre, in Touraine. When the artist presented the work to the National Gallery in 1908 he wrote in an accompanying letter: '...this study painted entirely from nature near one of the oldest mansions of our old Touraine is one of my best works.'
