The Madonna and Child with the Infant Saint John

There are several versions of this design which may date from the period when Catena and Giorgione were in partnership around 1506.

Although the painting is damaged, some areas are still in relatively good condition, such as the Virgin's blue mantle, painted over a red ground.

The presence of the infant John suggests the influence of Florentine art; he is rare in Venetian art before this date.
