Willem van de Velde: 'Dutch Ships in a Calm'
On the left there is a fishing boat and a 'hoeker' - a Dutch fishing vessel. On the right is a 'kaag' - a Dutch vessel with a straight raking stem and clinker-built. Other vessels can be seen beyond.

This work was probably painted by Willem van de Velde for the family studio, around 1660. At least eight versions of the composition are known.
