Studio of Francesco Furini: 'The Three Graces'

Explore the paintings

The Three Graces of Antiquity - Aglaia, Euphrosyne and Thalia, the daughters of Zeus - were often associated with giving and receiving, and with pleasure, chastity and beauty.

The composition repeats in reverse a painting by Furini of the same subject (Hermitage, St Petersburg) of 1638, which suggests the possible re-use of Furini's cartoon by a member of his studio.
