Style of Segna di Bonaventura: 'Crucifix'
By analogy with other Crucifixes of the time, a roundel of God the Father should once have surmounted this work. The Virgin Mary and Saint John the Evangelist are shown at each end of the Cross.

This kind of Crucifix was a common piece of church furniture in the 13th and 14th centuries and would have been hung above the altar.
