Meindert Hobbema: 'The Watermills at Singraven near Denekamp'
These watermills, which still survive, belonged to the manor house at Singraven, near Denekamp, north-east of Enschede and close to the border between Overijssel and Germany. The buildings and the river Dinkel are seen from the south-south-east.

The watermills had previously been the subject of a series of pictures by Hobbema's teacher Jacob van Ruisdael, an example of which can also be found in the Collection ('Two Watermills and an Open Sluice at Singraven').
