The house has not been identified; a coat of arms which was once to the left of the entrance is no longer legible. The landscape is thought to have beeen painted by Lucas van Uden, but the figures are probably the work of David Teniers the Younger. They can be dated on grounds of style to about 1650, and the landscape was probably painted shortly before then. The two artists also collaborated on other occasions.
