Joris van der Haagen: 'A River Landscape'

Explore the paintings

Room A: Paintings after 1600

This painting was previously attributed to Jan Looten (about 1618 - 1680) but shows close similarities to signed paintings by Joris van der Haagen. Van der Haagen painted wooded landscapes as well as his better-known topographical views. This picture can be compared to similar signed works by him, e.g. one in The Hague (Museum Bredius) and another in Copenhagen (Statens Museum for Kunst).
