Italian, Florentine: 'God the Father'

Explore the paintings

God the Father is shown with an orb and with his hand raised in blessing.

This painting was formerly catalogued as a work by Masaccio and said to be probably from the frame of his Pisan altarpiece, of which the 'Virgin and Child' (also in the Collection) is the central panel. It would seem in any case to be Florentine and likely to date from about 1430-40.
