The Conversion of Saint Paul

Christ appearing in the clouds strikes his persecutor Saul blind. Saul (henceforth Paul) is the prominent figure who has fallen on the ground beside his horse. This is the moment of his conversion. New Testament (Acts 9: 1-9).

This has been variously attributed in the past. It is possible that, though certainly by some painter in the Dosso circle, the picture is partly based on an earlier work.
