Italian: 'Bust of a Bearded Man'

Explore the paintings

The costume of the unidentified sitter can be dated to the early 17th century. This picture has in the past been attributed to Annibale Carracci and to the Flemish School. It is currently considered Italian, and possibly Bolognese. The reverse is inscribed 1661, but this is unlikely to be the date of execution.
